Participants develop a foundation for lifelong skiing enjoyment through all-mountain skiing, professional coaching, race training, competition, and team camaraderie.

USSA Age Realignment

USSA age class realignment is a positive step for SST programs

The (global) changing of FIS rules to make eligibility for FIS racing to begin at 16 (instead of 15) years old is what is driving the age restructuring. The decision was made by the international Ski Federation (FIS) for the sake of athlete development and injury prevention. The result was that in the USA all younger age groups needed to be adjusted and/or re-examined. The decision for USSA and the Western Region and IMD involved much dialogue and was finally made official at the end of May. The result is that all the age groups essentially will be bumped to one year older but remain 2- year groupings. The terminology has changed as well… the J1-6 system is no more. The Junior groups will be referred to as “U” for “Under” and number like soccer. It is still based on the year of birth with a cut-off date of December 31st. it Breaks down as follows

U8 – 2005 - 2006 as of Dec 31 - YSL
U10 – 2003 - 2004 as of Dec 31 - YSL
U12 – 2001 - 2002 as of Dec 31 – South Series, YSL
U14 – 1999 – 2000 as of Dec 31 – IMD North and South combine or South Series
U16 – 1997 – 1998 as of Dec 31 – IMD U16 Series, U14 IMD Series (with points 200 or higher) Plus Open Series
U18 – 1995 – 1996 as of Dec 31 - Open Series/ IMD Cup Series plus U14 Series (with 200 points or higher.
U21 - 1992 – 1993 – 1994 as of Dec 31 - Taking the place of the old J1 age classification
Open Series is open to athletes born in 1999 and older.
